Brigadier General Fox was commissioned a Second Lieutenant, Infantry on 31 May 1969. Since that time he has served in a variety of positions on both active duty and in the Army National Guard of the United States. His active duty assignments include: Training Officer, 2nd Combat Training Brigade; Executive Officer and Commander, HHC, 171st Infantry Brigade; Brigade S-1, 2nd Infantry Division; Project Officer, Instructor, Chief, Conditioning Subcommittee, Leadership Committee US Army Infantry School; Operations Officer,4th Bn (Abn), and Company Commander, 43nd Co (Abn) Ft Benning, GA. He also served as S-2, for the 2nd Battalion 6th Infantry in Berlin, Germany. Brigadier General Fox joined the New Mexico Army National Guard in 1980 and served in a variety of positions. His Army National Guard Assignments include: Battalion S-2, 4th Battalion 200th Air Defense Artillery; Battery Commander, HHB, 4th Battalion 200th Air Defense Artillery; Senior Tactical Officer, New Mexico Army National Guard Academy; Assistant Operations Officer, 4th Battalion 200th Air Defense Artillery; Special Staff Officer, Headquarters State Area Command, New Mexico Army National Guard; S-3, 1st Battalion 200th Air Defense Artillery; Chief Training Division, Headquarters State Area Command, New Mexico Army National Guard; Training Administrator, Headquarters State Area Command, New Mexico Army National Guard; Chief Training Division, Headquarters State Area Command, New Mexico Army National Guard; Battalion Commander, 2nd Battalion, 200th Air Defense Artillery; Assistant Director, Plans and Training, Headquarters State Area Command, New Mexico Army National Guard; and Chief of Staff, Headquarters State Area Command, New Mexico Army National Guard. Brigadier General Fox retired from the New Mexico Army National Guard in 1995 as a Colonel and served as the Director of State Programs for the Department of Military Affairs until 1997. He taught and coached at Hereford High School in Hereford, Texas from 1997 until 1999. While at Hereford he received the 1999 Koobraey Award as Teacher of the Year. In 1999, he was selected to be Commandant of Cadets at New Mexico Military Institute and in 2004 was selected to be the 17th President of St. Johns Military School in Salina, Kansas. Brigadier General Fox attended high school and Junior College at New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, and graduated with a BA in Government from New Mexico State University. He also has a Master of Education Degree from Georgia State. Brigadier General Fox’s military education includes Infantry Officer Basic Course; Airborne Course; Junior Officer Preventive Maintenance Course; Infantry Officer Advanced Course; Basic Instructor Training Course; Pathfinder Course; Tactical Intelligence Staff Course; Air Defense Officer Familiarization Advance Course; Command and General Staff College; Air Defense Artillery Pre-Command Course and United State Army War College. His military awards include Legion of Merit, three Meritorious Service Medals, five Army Commendation Medals, Army Achievement Medal, two Army Reserve Component Achievement Medals, Army Occupation Medal, National Defense Service Medal (with Bronze Star Device), Korean Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (with Silver Hourglass Device), Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service Ribbon. Brigadier General Fox is married to the former Marvine Sartin. They have two children and two grandchildren and reside in Santa Fe, NM. Brigadier General Fox was recalled from the retired reserve as a Colonel in July 2007, and assumed the duties as Deputy Adjutant General, New Mexico National Guard, where he serves on full-time active status for the state of New Mexico and is directly responsible for the training and readiness of the New Mexico National Guard. |
