| It is the mission of Military Appreciation Weekend
(MAW) to create a lasting bond of respect and appreciation between the
civilian and military populations, such that Americans from every walk
of life will show a genuine sense of pride in "Supporting Our
Troops", pledging to and saluting the American flag and expressing
brotherly love and compassion for the sacrifices of our troops and their
