Becoming a MAW Sponsor
How to become a MAW Sponsor

The MAW 2010 event will be held at the Ruidoso Downs Race Track on the infield.  The event begins with a Golf Tournament Thursday, May 06, at The Links.  As always, every branch of the U.S. Armed Forces will be participating. Ft. Bliss is the lead support for 2010. The convoy will arrive at the Race Track at noon on Friday, May 07.  The public is encouraged to form two greeting lines through which the troops will pass for welcoming high-fives.  Military City will be erected, and spectators will be treated to hands on military equipment, artillery, bombs, simulators, demonstrations, drills, exercises including Bradley tanks, helicopter landings, canine training, downed pilot search and rescue, camo face painting, drunk driving course, rappelling, NM Space Museum rocket launches, German AF Tornado, 21 gun salute, Canon firing and much, much more.

The troops will be lodged at Mountain View Christian Camp and Bonito Park Campground at no cost.  They will be fed meals at Mountain View Christian Camp.  This leaves in town lodging for tourists, visitors, guests speakers, the many wounded warriors and those competing for the oldest veteran in each branch of the service. Shuttle service will be provided to bring troops into town Saturday for shopping, dining, and "A Saturday Night on the Town."  Plans are to cordon off a section of Sudderth, music groups, dancing in the street, quality time to get acquainted with and to "hug on" the soldiers.

There will be three General Officer speakers at MAW 2010, one being MAW's newest Board Member, Brigadier General Jack R. Fox.  Major General Kenneth Montoya will be the keynote speaker.  Major General Jerry Grizzle, NMMI, will present awards to the Essay Writing Contest winners.  There will also be a contest for the oldest veteran from each branch of service and a contest for the youngest active duty soldier.  The MAW Ceremony will be on the field at 9:00 AM Saturday.  The MAW Reception will be held in the Turf Club Saturday, 2:00 PM.  For the first time, MAW is opening the Reception to the public for the first 100 guests with an advanced reservation of $10.  MAW will be honoring Wounded Warriors Marine Staff Sgt. Mark Graunke and Matt Zajac as well as POW, Maggie Trujillo.
