the "Musical Military Ambassador" to the State of New Mexico.
Their roots can be traced back to the "New Mexico Volunteers" and
they have served during significant periods of the nation’s history, most
notably during World War II as the 200th Coast Artillery Band. On
April 9th of 1942 they were surrendered to the Japanese and forced to march
in Corregidor and on the Bataan Peninsula thus earning their name "The
Battling Bastards of Bataan." The unit was deactivated in the
60's and remained inactive until the late 70's when they returned as the
44th Army Band under the command of Chief Warrant Officer Paul Tafoya.

Ensemble will be in concert Saturday, 3:30 - 4:30 PM in the Race Track
